From The Winemaker

La Poussie is “a jewel in the Sancerre.”  The famous 45 degree steep sloping hillsides of the vineyard provide great sun exposure for the vines.

The soil in Sancerre is a composition of limestone, flint and clay. All the varying soil types are harvested, vinified and pressed separately to preserve their distinctive qualities and integrity: Limestone produces a very perfumed wine which is delicate in style; Flint produces wine with more depth and mineral character; Clay, located in the highest slopes, makes a firm wine with rustic characteristics.

About This Wine

Let’s address the name first—yes, it raises an eyebrow. And like all things in wine, if it gets your attention, it’s already doing its job. But once you’re past the smirk, this is serious Sancerre.

From one of the Loire’s most iconic amphitheater vineyards, the 2024 opens with crystalline aromatics of grapefruit, lime, and white peach, layered with delicate florals and that unmistakable flinty edge. On the palate, it’s all tension and precision—green apple, citrus oil, and crushed stone, carried by a spine of chalky acidity that feels like it was engineered rather than grown.

There’s a subtle roundness here too—just enough to soften the edges—hinting at peach, quince, and a touch of honeyed depth beneath the mineral drive. This is what happens when Sauvignon Blanc grows up: still electric, but with composure. Call it what you want—La Poussie, the “conversation starter,” the bottle that makes people lean in—but in the glass, it’s unmistakable: pure, structured, quietly seductive Sancerre.
