CRISTAL: BY IMPERIAL DECREE
The legend of Cristal began in 1876, created to meet the discerning standards of Tsar Alexander II. The Russian emperor specifically tasked Louis Roederer with reserving the House's finest cuvée for him annually, a testament to his passion for their champagne. To signify its exclusive nature, this remarkable champagne was presented in a unique, transparent lead-crystal bottle with a flat base. This precious, luminous material inspired the iconic name.
THE ESSENCE OF A VINTAGE
Cristal is born only in exceptional years, when the Chardonnay (approx. 40%) and Pinot Noir (approx. 60%) grapes reach their pinnacle of maturity. It is then patiently aged for six years in Louis Roederer's cellars, with an additional eight months of refinement after disgorgement.
