This vintage opens with an alluring bouquet of crushed cassis, ripe blackberry, and luscious black cherry, gracefully intertwined with delicate hints of violet, smooth vanilla, and warm baking spices. The palate reveals a vibrant freshness, echoing the aromatic richness, and is beautifully enhanced by a remarkably plush, creamy texture imparted by finely integrated tannins. Subtle yet profound notes of black tea, licorice, and decadent dark chocolate lead to a lingering, memorable finish. Crafted from a precise blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot, 0.5% Merlot, and 0.5% Malbec, this wine embodies the unique terroir of Opus One's estate vineyards. Located within the esteemed Oakville AVA, the vineyards encompass 100 acres of the prestigious To Kalon Vineyard, alongside the 70 acres of the Ballestra and River parcels that surround the winery. The grapes underwent 19 days of skin contact, followed by 19 1/2 months of aging in new French oak, ensuring exceptional integration and complexity.
