About This Wine

This exceptional aged tawny Porto is crafted from carefully selected grapes sourced from the top vineyards of Cima Corgo and Douro Superior. Taylor Fladgate, a pioneer in advanced winemaking technology, is among the few producers utilizing piston fermenter methods—known as Port Toes—which enhance flavor and aroma beyond standard pump-over fermentation. Fermentation is interrupted by adding grape spirits before all sugar converts, resulting in a sweet, fortified wine. Wines from various vintages mature in 600-liter oak casks for years, gradually transforming from deep purple-black to the signature tawny color. Over time, the wine develops richer nutty nuances while concentrating as 3% of the liquid evaporates annually, known as the Angels’ Share. The 20 Year Old Tawny blend showcases an average of two decades of aging, highlighting its complex character.
