From The Winemaker
Since our establishment in 1999, we have focused on Northwest wines, highlighting the unique terroir of the prestigious grape-growing regions of the Yakima and Willamette Valleys. Our deep purple Ex Umbris (Latin for out of the shadows) Syrah has a pleasant nose of pepper and grilled meats, followed by jammy purple and red fruit with a touch of leather and toasted oak. The palate offers plenty of dark fruit, such as blackberry and plums, with approachable, peppery tannins and a smooth, lasting finish. Originally released in 2002 as a one-time bottling, this wine was inspired by a fire that affected the surrounding hillsides of our vineyard. The resulting ash and smoke infused the Syrah grapes, resulting in a truly unforgettable wine. Year after year, we are urged to produce a Syrah that will continue to share the story behind this exceptional creation!
