Orin Swift Mercury Head Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
Orin Swift Cellars is a cultish wine brand in California that has grown from a small project to a global empire. The company was founded by David Swift Phinney, who discovered his passion for wine during a college trip to Italy. After working a harvest job at Robert Mondavi Winery, he started his own company in 1998. The name "Orin" is derived from his father's middle name, and "Swift" is his mother's maiden name.
Critical Acclaim
96 Points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
According to Winemaker Dave Phinney, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Mercury Head will be bottled in a typical volume of over 6,000 cases. The wine is sourced from valley floor sites and the Stagecoach Vineyard, with occasional inclusion of fruit from the Monte Rosso Vineyard. After aging for 13 months in 58% new oak, the wine offers a complex nose of menthol, cedar, ripe cassis, and cherries. On the palate, it is full-bodied and velvety, with a lengthy finish enhanced by notes of dark chocolate.
