About This Wine
The Prisoner Red Blend was inspired by the wines first made by the Italian immigrants who originally settled in Napa Valley, California. Master winemaker of Prisoner Red Blend, Dave Phinney went to Florence, Italy in 1994 to immerse himself in Italian winemaking. The climax of the trip is represented in Prisoner Red Blend. Prisoner Red Blend is now the most recognized red blend, leading the resurgence of interesting blends by incorporating Zinfandel with the unlikely mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah, and Charbono. Simply, this is the wine that started the whole red blend trend and category. The wine is owned by Constellation Brands today and is led by female winemaker, Chrissy Whitman, who continues to produce a one-of-a-kind red blend. Chrissy Wittmann has highlighted how the 2022 vintage harks back to earlier releases, preserving the hallmark characteristics that made it iconic. Another fun fact the wine is sourced from 100 different growers of fruit.
