Are screw top corks inferior to traditional corks?
Technically, screw top corks are called Stelvin closures. Why? Stelvin is an artificial word made up of Stelcap (registered trademark for screw caps) and Vin. Should I invest in a Durand corkscrew?
If you tend to drink vintage wines, ie wines that are really old and expensive, then it makes sense to invest in a Durand because they possess a helix and blades mitigate the possibility of the cork disintegrating and ruining your $25,000 bottle of Domaine Romaine Conte 1964.
