DAOU Patrimony Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

 99pts

"The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon is cut from the same cloth as the 2019, yet is perhaps richer and more expansive, with slightly less elegance. Currants, chocolate, toasted spices, and tobacco all define this beauty, and it has full-bodied richness, flawlessly integrated oak, good acidity, and a great finish. Anyone doubting the quality that can be achieved in Cabernet Sauvignon from Paso Robles owes it to themselves to try one of these wines."

"The 2020 Patrimony Cabernet Sauvignon, made entirely with free-run juice, will be in 100% new French oak barrels for 30 months. It has an opaque ruby-black color and youthfully gregarious aromas of cassis, blueberries, pencil shavings, thyme and mushroom. The full-bodied palate strikes a balance between concentrated fruit and a supple, fresh frame, and it finishes with alluring herbal tones."

95pts

"A well-composed cabernet sauvignon with aromas of berries, plums, cassis, pencil lead and stones. Full-bodied with fine, firm tannins. Generous array of ripe berries, spices and some chocolate intermingle on the palate. Slightly chewy towards the finish."

From the Winemaker:

This wine qualifies as the most elegant PATRIMONY Cabernet Sauvignon to date. Longer hanging on the vine provided great tannin structure while maintaining freshness. The nose is layered and complex, exploding with chocolate, cooked blackberries, violets, cedar and cigar box. On the palette, crushed stones give it a dimension rarely seen in new world wines. The fruit is pure and potent yet fine while being accompanied with a kaleidoscope of flavor ranging from blueberries, blackberries, dulce de leche and a touch of rose petal while sharing boasting minerality and a floral note.
