About This Wine
Corvidae, Latin for the crow family of birds which are a common presence in the eastern Washington vineyards, is crafty, adaptable, and showcases somewhat dubious characters as a fitting icon for the terrific value wines from this region. We work with affordable fruit, sourced from Washington’s Yakima Valley, and turn it into an excellent wine to take what nature has kindly given and pass it on. The crow family, including blue jays, magpies and ravens, are amongst the most brilliant and quick-witted birds, and adorn our labels to honor the intellect that is involved in our winemaking process.
Part of the Owen Roe Winery, Rook was made to showcase the world-class Merlot grown in the cool, high elevation sites within the Columbia Valley AVA. All grapes were hand harvested and handled with minimal processing. The wine was small-lot fermented and aged in neutral French oak to keep the bright fruit flavors lively. Suggested food pairings: Cured Meat, Red Meat Suggested cheese pairings: Asiago, Cheddar, Gouda, Manchego, Parmesan, Pecorino.
