The color of 2020 Machete Petite Sirah from California boasts a deep mauve hue with a striking neon purple edge. Upon opening, the wine reveals enticing aromas such as ripe pluot, savory carne asada, fresh cowboy boots, fragrant lilacs, rich espresso beans, and damp concrete. Intense layers of flavor emerge on the palate, from a decadent plum galette paired with fior di latte gelato, to a bold 85% cacao dark chocolate, to a tender barbequed tri-tip with a hint of sweet oak. The wine finishes strong with firm tannins, a touch of blood orange zest, and lingering acidity.
