From The Winemaker
Jespersen Ranch’s foggy mornings and coastal breezes provide the perfect environment for Pinot Noir. We farm seven different clones of the grape here and craft a complex, single-vineyard wine each vintage. We age the wine 10 months in French oak barrels, resulting in a classic Pinot Noir with cranberry and candied orange notes and hints of rose petals, earth and wet clay. Critics have praised this vintage as one of the best of the decade for the region, noting its classic cool-climate character. Because the 2023 growing season in the Edna Valley was exceptionally long and mild, the wine achieved a deep phenolic complexity without losing its structural zip.
