About This Wine
The flagship of the Wagner family portfolio, the Special Selection is the barrel-by-barrel cut of Caymus — only the most opulent lots from the vintage make it into this bottle. The 2020 shows why collectors chase it every year: immediately expressive aromas of blackberry preserves, crème de cassis, baking cocoa, and vanilla bean leap from the glass. On the palate it’s plush and mouth-coating, with layers of ripe black cherry, melted dark chocolate, and warm baking spice wrapped in Caymus’s signature velvety tannins. Despite its richness, the wine stays polished and seamless, finishing long with sweet oak and ripe fruit that lingers for minutes.
This is the Cabernet that built the Caymus legend — consistently one of the most recognizable luxury Napa wines in America and a perennial “safe bet” gift for clients, collectors, and big celebrations. It drinks beautifully now (decant 30–60 minutes) but has the structure to age for a decade or more.
