From The Winemaker
Dominus Estate is the Napa Valley property of Bordeaux producer Christian Moueix. The wine is bottled from the historic Napanook Vineyard. Located at the foothills of the Mayacamas, the vineyard was planted in 1838 and continues to evolve under the stewardship of Christian Moueix. The estate's Bordeaux varietals benefit from the Yountville microclimate where temperatures are moderated by cool breezes from the San Pablo Bay. The resulting wine is a uniquely refined expression of this special terroir.
Tasting Notes
The 2023 Dominus opens with precise, layered aromatics of blackcurrant, blackberry, and dark cherry, framed by graphite, cedar, and a distinct mineral edge. Subtle notes of violet, tobacco, and crushed stone add lift and complexity.
On the palate, it is refined and structured, with dense dark fruit at the core supported by firm, polished tannins. Fresh acidity brings energy and definition, while hints of cocoa, espresso, and savory herbs unfold through a long, controlled finish.
This is a focused, elegant Dominus with clarity of fruit and a strong sense of structure, showing both immediate precision and the depth to evolve over time.
