About This Wine

Every Bella Union wine has a blending story to tell. Drawing upon a deep understanding of varietal, appellation, and vineyard, we craft harmonious, artfully blended wines that rise well beyond the sum of their parts. Sourced from rare Sauvignon Blanc vines in Rutherford, this wine is crafted utilizing a range of different fermentation methods to add greater depth and complexity to the finished wine. 21% is fermented in stainless steel to preserve the fruit’s natural citrus notes and vibrant acidity, while an additional 40% spends time in concrete eggs, the shape of which promotes greater integration of the lees adding a subtle minerality to the wine. Finally, 39% of the blend sees French Oak—4% of that being new French oak which adds palate weight and richness to the overall structure. Our 2022 Bella Union Sauvignon Blanc is a true Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc with beautiful aromas citrus and hints of stone fruit and tropical notes. Refreshing on the palate, with a crisp minerality layered with notes of grapefruit, kiwi, and citrus blossom. The touch of Semillon in the blend adds additional weight and texture, resulting in a spectacular finish that glides off the tongue.
